On Day 13, we read Bats in the Library. It’s a very cute story about bats who sneak into the library through a cracked window in the middle of the night – they have all kinds of fun, even “going into” some of the stories. It’s amazing how easily children can identify stories with small but iconic details. For instance, there is an image of a bat wearing a red hood, and immediately Sammy could tell this was the story of Little Red Riding Hood. An example of the importance of cultural literacy.
We enjoyed this story a lot. And I’m enjoying this picture a lot. Love his smile.
